Family Recipe - Fudge
Benny (9/7/03): Yeah, I admit it - I stole this recipe from Nestlé. I got it from the back of a chocolate chip bag (you can also find it on their website, verybestbaking.com - that's where I got the picture).

Several years ago I wanted to make some fudge as a part of a 'Goody Tray' to be given out during Christmas time. I found this recipe while shopping and decided to give it a try. At the time I had also purchased some mint-flavored chips, with the plans to make those into cookies. When I was making the fudge, I got an idea to use the mint chips instead of the chocolate chips. Since I already had melted the chocolate, I used it as a topping to the mint fudge - and an instant classic was created!

Every year since that one, I have made chocolate, butterscotch, and mint fudge for Christmas. It has also been a small tradition of mine to try and make a new flavor every year. I've tried white chocolate, cinnamon, and raspberry, but I didn't like any of those as much as mint.
